Dr.Ramesh Bhatt's Residence
The design of this house developed in response to the busy and noisy drive-in road near which it is to be built.
The plot and the service lane on which it and the neighboring plots are at a level of 2 meters lower than the main road. Hence we are to plant a row of trees with thick foliage next to the road side peripheral wall which itself would be high enough from the ground to buffer dust and noise from the road.
Four meters from the line of trees an almost blank concrete wall forms the southern exterior skin of the house which in turn encloses the circulation zone. The trees, the gap, the concrete wall and the 3 meter double volume circulation zone buffers the rest of the house from the busy street. All these put together with the prayer room perpendicular to the main linear structure form a quiet inward looking garden for the family.
The images and drawings explain the rest.
